Every Stride Tells a Story: Red Shoes Rock for FASD Awareness

Lace up those red shoes, because it’s time to make some noise for FASD awareness! 👟❤️As we begin planning for September 9th, 2025, the Red Shoes Rock movement is gearing up for another powerful FASD Awareness Month. Started in 2013 by RJ Formanek, an adult living with FASD, this campaign has grown from a personal gesture into a global symbol of advocacy and visibility.

Why red shoes, you ask?

Well, they’re not just a fashion statement. These vibrant kicks represent freedom, speed, and the courage to stand out.

Every time you slip on those red shoes, you’re telling a story of resilience, hope, and understanding for those affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. You’re supporting persons living with these challenges.

Here’s how you can join the movement:

  1. Rock those red shoes proudly any day you feel like it to START A CONVERSATION and EMBRACE our movement throughout September
  2. Share your story on social media using #RedShoesRock and #FASDawareness
  3. Start conversations about FASD with friends, family, and even strangers who notice your shoes. Tell us about those conversations on Social Media. Share pictures.
  4. Look out for landmarks lit up in red on September 9th or join us in helping make the connections with landmark engineers and managers to LIGHT UP on 09.09.

Remember, your red shoes are more than just footwear – they’re a beacon of support and love for the FASD community.

So step out, stand tall, and let your red shoes do the talking. Together, we can illuminate the world with FASD awareness, one stride at a time!
