Happy New Year – Get Visible 2025

Since the creation of International Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Awareness Day in 1999, it has been a time for the FASD community to come together, find support, and shine a light on the impact of prenatal alcohol exposure, which affects millions of people globally. There are many ways you can “Go Red” for FASD and make this day impactful and celebratory. One way is to help your community light up as many buildings and landmarks as possible in red on September 9, 2025.

This concept has gained momentum in recent years, with various landmarks around the world illuminated in RED for FASD Awareness Day. The image of famous landmarks shining bright in red has been an inspiration for many, raising visibility for this important cause.

Each building the illuminate red is contacted by a person from that community. Many buildings, monuments, landmarks, and homes across the world participate in Light Up Red for FASD, and we hope you will join in.

QUICK TIP: During the month of February you can often purchase RED heart lights you can shine in your own home in recognition on September 9.

WE NEED YOUR HELP: Here are the simple steps to join the light up initiative:

  1. Contact local landmarks, buildings, or monuments to request participation.
  2. Provide information about FASD and the significance of September 9th.
  3. Encourage individuals to light up their homes or workplaces in red lights or hearts on September 9. February is a great time to get Red Heart lights to celebrate in September at your home
  4. Share photos and stories on social media using hashtags like #FASDay #Light4FASD #FASDAwareness

By participating in Light Up Red for FASD, you help raise awareness and support for individuals and families affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders.

Please Comment to Jodee if you would like a list of landmarks in your area that you can request lighting.
