DESIRES: Improved Understanding and Awareness

Many caregivers wish for greater public and professional awareness of FASD to reduce stigma and improve understanding of the challenges faced by those with the condition. Red Shoes Rock FASD Aware needs your participation and support.

Here are some engaging community events to raise awareness about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD):

  1. Red Shoes Rock Day: Declare a specific day where everyone in the community wears red shoes to show support for FASD awareness. Encourage participants to share photos on social media using the hashtag #RedShoesRock to spread the message globally – Light up a landmark on Sept 9!
  2. FASD Awareness Flash Mob: Organize a flash mob in a public space where participants wear red and perform a choreographed dance. This can attract attention and provide an opportunity to distribute informational flyers about FASD.
  3. Interactive Workshops: Conduct workshops that include engaging activities to help participants understand FASD. These can be tailored for different audiences, such as educators, healthcare professionals, and the general public.
  4. Community Art Project: Create a mural or art installation that represents the challenges and strengths of individuals with FASD. Involve local artists and community members to foster a sense of ownership and engagement. F
