Edina Lights Up France Avenue in Red for Red Shoes Rock on June 1!
SEND US YOUR PHOTOS
The Red Shoes Rock campaign kicked off in spectacular fashion on June 1, 2024, as the City of Edina illuminated France Avenue in red. This vibrant display marked the beginning of our 99 Days to International FASDay, a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). We are deeply grateful to the City of Edina in Minnesota for their unwavering support and commitment to this cause.
A Night to Remember
The sight of France Avenue bathed in red lights was not only stunning but also deeply meaningful. This event was more than a beautiful display; it was a powerful statement of solidarity with individuals living with FASD and their families. The illumination served as a visual reminder of the strength, resilience, and importance of understanding and preventing prenatal alcohol exposure.
Community Involvement
The kickoff event on June 1st was just the beginning. We encourage all residents of Edina and the surrounding communities to participate throughout the 99 days leading up to International FASDay on September 9th. Wear your red shoes, take pictures, and share your support on social media using the hashtag #RedShoesRock and #LightRedFASD. Your involvement is crucial in spreading awareness and fostering a supportive network for those affected by FASD.
About Red Shoes Rock
Red Shoes Rock is a grassroots movement that runs annually from June 1 to September 9. The campaign aims to educate the public about FASD, promote understanding and compassion, and encourage actions to prevent prenatal alcohol exposure. By sharing stories and information, Red Shoes Rock fosters a global community of support for individuals and families affected by FASD.
Understanding FASD
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) encompass a range of conditions that can occur in an individual whose mother consumed alcohol during pregnancy. These conditions can affect physical, mental, behavioral, and learning abilities, with varying degrees of severity. Awareness and early intervention are key to providing the best possible outcomes for individuals with FASD.

We invite everyone to join us in this important initiative. By supporting Red Shoes Rock and participating in events like the illumination of France Avenue, you are helping to raise awareness, educate the public, and support individuals and families affected by FASD.
