This site introduces the neurobehavioural difficulties that may appear throughout the lifespan of individuals with FASD. It is important to recognize that, being a spectrum disorder, FASD can look different for different individuals. Not all individuals with FASD will experience all of the issues presented here. The center’s Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Prevention Team works to prevent FASDs and to ameliorate these conditions for individuals and families already living with FASDs.

The NIAAA is one of the 27 institutes and centers that comprise the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The NIAAA supports and conducts research on the impact of alcohol use on human health and well-being.
